Top Of Google - SEO Tip From The Experts
In a recent survey of 37 SEO (search engine optimization) experts three options were given and the experts had to decide which algorithm was the most important for achieving a high ranking in Google.
56% said the most important factor was authority and trust of a domain.
35% said external links pointing to your site
9% said Keyword based relevance of an individual web page.
So what in hell is a trusted and authoritative domain? Simple it’s a site that Google thinks is a legitimate and quality website. Some of the factors that create a sense of trust / authority are:
- The age of your domain (www.your-website.com)
- The age of a web page (when it was first indexed)
- The number of sites that link to your website and web page
- The quality of those links (how relevant they are and how trusted)
- The age of those links (when did the site first link to your website and web page
Since most spam sites are new websites that don’t last long, I understand why age / trust is one of the effective ways for the search engines to rank sites. But putting such a massive emphasis on age is not the answer.
